Community Liver Health Checks

As part of our commitment to improving health and reducing health inequalities we are working with our partners at Imperial NHS Trust to offer liver health checks to our patients that may be at higher risk of liver disease.

Eligible patients will be offered a 15-minute appointment with a specialist nurse for a discussion of liver health and a simple ultrasound check known as a fibroscan. This looks for stiffness or fatty changes in the liver. If the test is positive a referral to the liver specialists will be made.

Earlier detection of potential liver disease will allow for earlier treatment and will increase the effectiveness of diet and lifestyle changes for reducing progression or development of liver problems.

Patients in an at-risk category will be sent an invitation to call their own GP surgery to book this via text message.
